Is The Morality Of Abortions - 956 Words

The topic I choose to discuss is the morality of abortions. Merriam-Webster defines abortion as the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. Abortion has been a very controversial matter and the ongoing controversy surrounding the moral and legal status of induced abortion. Some individuals are pro life and completely against it; they feel that abortion is immoral is because it is the intentional killing of a human being. However, others are pro-choice and believe that a woman should have the right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy. This dispute has become a huge political and a legal matter. There are anti-abortion activist that seeks to develop and pass anti-abortion laws. As well, there are abortion rights supporters are seeking the put an end to laws that stop women from having the right to abortions and making it more accessible to receive abortion care. Abortion laws differ significantly be tween many jurisdictions. The legalization of abortions was payable to the United States Supreme case in 1973, Roe vs. Wade. Roe pleaded the 14th Amendment, her right to privacy and said that the Texas abortion statute was unconstitutional. The 14th Amendment and the Equal Protection Clause states that every citizen of the United States has equal protection of the law and shall not be discriminated against. Roe was a single woman who was pregnant; she was fighting the state of Texas to have anShow MoreRelatedAbortion : The Morality Of Abortion1442 Words   |  6 Pagesdebated topics in bioethics is the morality of abortion, or the ending of a pregnancy without physically giving birth to an infant. Emergency Management Act Of 1934 Essay - 977 Words

Emergency Management begin in the 1800’s. New Hampshire had a fire that destroyed most of the city. The city needed financial aid to help with the recovery efforts. In 1803, a Congressional Act was passed in order to help the town recover from the devastating loss. This is an example of what would be the Federal government participation in a local disaster. In the 1930’s, the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and the Bureau of Public Roads was given the ability to give disaster loans to aid in the recovery process (FEMA.gov) During this time, a noteworthy, â€Å"significant piece of emergency management legislation was passed by Congress† (FEMA.gov). It was the Flood Control Act of 1934. This Act gave U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the ability to plan and construct flood control projects. Through the years Emergency Management has taken on new forms. Initially there were over 100 departments overseeing emergency management. It was not until June 19, 1978, that President Carter announced a plan to provide the launching of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The FEMA Director would report to the President of the United States of America. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew struck the state of Florida, and FEMA was evidently not prepared to handle such an event. It was clear that FEMA’s partners at the State level were also not prepared to handle such an event. Romeo And Juliet (823 words) Essay Example For Students

Romeo And Juliet (823 words) Essay Romeo and JulietRomeo and Juliet, is a story of two young lovers, whose love was destined for destruction. They did not imagine that their love would lead to the tragedies that it did. These two young people did nothing wrong except fall in love. Three aspects of their destruction included the feud between the two families, the nurse and her betrayal of Juliet and the most important aspect of all is fate. The feud between the two families was one factor that contributed to the love of Romeo and Juliet being destined for destruction. From ancient grudge break to new mutiny. (Romeo Juliet, Prologue, pg.2 l.3) The two families, Montagues and Capulets, had many problems. There was hate between the two families so much so that even the servants hated each other. This feud would have caused many problems for Romeo and Juliet: These two young lovers knew this and this is why they kept their marriage a secret. If their parents discovered their secret, they would have made their childrens lives miserable. Romeo and Juliet would not have been able to see each other. Both of these families were very stubborn and there was hardly any thing that would have made them become friends. In the prologue we learn that the only way the strife could be ended was by the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Doth with their death bury their parents strife. (Romeo ; Juliet, Prologue, l. 8) Neither the Montagues or the Capulets would have accepted the marriage. Keeping the marriage a secret caused Romeo and Juliet to turn to other people for help. Sometimes these people gave them the wrong advice or just betrayed them. The Nurse was one of these characters who betrayed the young couple. The Nurse who was also Juliets friend turned against her at a very crucial time. The Nurse told Juliet that it would be best if she married Paris. I think it best you married with the county. (Romeo Juliet, pg. 101, III, v, l.219) This betrayal by the Nurse left Juliet alone. She was a wise young woman but it still would have been beneficial for her to have the help of the Nurse. Juliet was left on her own to make some very important decisions. I believe that if the Nurse had been around to help Juliet things may have turned out differently. Juliet had no one to turn to and ask for help. She could not have gone to her parents because they would not have understood. The Nurse was supposed to be one of Juliets best friends. Now when it was important for Juliet to have someone there, for her she was betrayed. When considering the destruction of Romeo and Juliet the most sifnificant fact you must think about is fate. Fate, above all, destroyed Romeo and Juliet. Many instances in the play reveals that the love of Romeo and Juliet would end in death. A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life. (Romeo ; Juliet,pg.2, Prologue, l.6) From the very beginning it is evident that they were destined by the stars to bad fortune. Some people may think that there is no way to control fate or change what is in the stars. It could be that the love of Romeo and Juliet was destined for death so that their parents feud would be over. Also, in the prologue it states that the dreadful course of their love was destined for death. The fearful passage of their death marked love. .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .postImageUrl , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:hover , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:visited , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:active { border:0!important; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:active , .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73 .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2246551d3768ce972550f297f0c18a73:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Child Labour: NOT Always Wrong Essay (Romeo Juliet, pg.2, Prologue, l.9) Both of these quotes show us that the love of these two was destined to end tragically. The masquerade party was above all the most important aspect of fate. The fact that Romeo was wearing a mask and his face was hidden allowed juliet to fall in love with him before she saw who it was. If Juliet had known who Romeo was she would probably have not fallen in love with him. Fate could not have been changed whatever was meant to be would happen and no one could change that. In conclusion, from the very beginning, the love of Romeo and Juliet was destined to be destroyed. It is tragic that both these people had to die. There were circumstances throughout the course of their lives that led up to their deaths. If their parents had not been feuding and if the Nurse had not betrayed Juliet, the outcome of this story would have been different, although fate could not be changed. This was the most important factor in the lives of Romeo and Juliet. In my opinion the quote that accurately summarizes this play is, For never was there a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo. (Romeo ; Juliet, V, iii, p. 138, ll.309-310)

Innovation and Sustainable Business Development

Question: Discuss about theInnovation and Sustainable Business Development. Answer: Introduction: Transcript A business model is the actual representation of the business which presents the different configurations of a business- financial, architectural and co-operational. The key dimensions of the business model include the ownership, value proposition and value network (Amit Zott, 2012). In this disruptive age, the established business models are constantly attacked. The major causes of the business model disruption are rapid globalization and the advancement of the technology. This allows the introduction of the new business models at an increasing rate and also with less cost than before. The economic, technological, political, cultural and social environment of an organization forces the disruption process to take place at a rapid rate. It is often attributed to the change process in an organization. The practical implication of the business model disruption is presented by Google by the adoption of the free model (Sako, 2012). This model acted as a disruption for the current pay-for-service model. The free model aims to give free services coupled with other goods. The users can access the services of the company without spending (Sako, 2012). This is done by the company so that it attracts the attention of the users and can gather crucial customer data. The offering of the free services also provides competitive advantage to the company. The no-fee model acts as a disruptive tool to the competitors such as Microsoft and Apple. It is also a profitable option and helps the company to increase its revenues. The existing business performance of the company was significantly enhanced by the cost free model which gave it better visibility and profitability. References Amit, R., Zott, C. (2012). Innovation and Sustainable Business Development Question: Discuss about the Innovation and Sustainable Business Development. Answer: The business model can be defines as the process through which an organization makes profit by carrying out various operations (Bocken et al. 2014). The organization will be able to generate proper revenues with the help of the business model. To understand the effectiveness of the business model if various firms, metric gross profit is being used. To calculate the gross profit, the cost of goods sold is being deducted from the revenue earned by the company. the business model help the business owners to keep a track of the goal and objectives of the business and set the plan according to that (Beck, Demirg-Kunt Merrouche, 2013). Business systems can be defined as the process of delivery mechanism. If a company wants to provide certain goods and services to the customers then it has to set a strategy on the way the goods will delivered to the customers (DaSilva Trkman, 2014). The key features of the business canvas model are the key partners, key activities, key resources, value propositions, customer relationships, channels, customer segments, cost structure and revenue streams. When the business model will be conceptualized as the systems then the delivery of the business by keeping in mind the factors of the business canvas model. To deliver the business to the customers they have to involve the key features of the business canvas model (Bohnsack, Pinkse Kolk 2014). They have to segment the customers and then decide on the resource and activities that will help them to deliver the business as promised to them. They will also have to keep a check on the partners, key resources and activities that will hel p them to deliver the work. They will deliver the business by keeping in mind the channels through which they will deliver the services (Casadesus?Masanell Zhu, 2013). Based on the way they deliver the services, the revenues gained by the company will vary. Hence, it can be said that the thing that should be considered while conceptualization the business model as system will be the cost structure , revenue streams and the customers to whom the services will be delivered. When a company is working in the competitive field, they face various challenges; some of the changes will be static while some of the changes will be dynamics static challenges (Kastalli Van Looy, 2013). Static problems might rise from the structure of the organization, the cost structure and the resources available in the organizations. Dynamic problems might raise from the external issues like the change in the customers and the economic conditions of the place (Martins, Rindova Greenbaum, 2015). The business model as system will help in understanding the key resource and the activities that would help the company to combat the issues with the external challenges. If they have prior idea about the issues, then the business model will help when the market is suffering from any economic downturn (Khanagha, Volberda Oshri, 2014). The model will also be useful in understanding the static problems like the revenue streams is based on that, they can decide the cost structure of the c ompany (Spieth, P., Schneckenberg Ricart, 2014). Innovation in the business will help an organization to enhance the business(Lambert Davidson, 2013). The business canvas model will help in understanding the areas where innovations can be made so that it will be able to deliver better services to the customers. Innovations lies in the services that the organization will deliver and changes in the business process should be done in the activities so that they are able to deliver new types of products to the customers (Markides, 2013). The model will also help in understanding the people who would be required to bring in the innovation in the business. For different kinds of innovation, the organization will need people who will help with the finances to bring the innovation. The business model as system distinguishes the factor that will help in proper delivery of the work(Bocken et al. 2014). If it is used as the system, then the exact areas where the innovations can be done will be evaluated (Beck, Demirg-Kunt Merrouche, 2013). As explained by Itashi and Nitino, the business model has been divided into two parts. the profit model and business system consist of the business model. The business system is further divided into learning system and delivery system. The delivery system is further divided into external and internal delivery. Figure 1: Basic Business Model (Source: Itami Nishino, 2010) The authors have explained the business system with the help of which the firm carries out the operations. The profit model explains the intension of the firm behind carrying out the business process. The business system explains the strategy that the firm will implement to fulfill those intentions. The business system not only limits itself to the operations that need not be done in the organization but also looks into the behaviors of the customers and the suppliers. As per the authors, profit model and business system work in collaborative manner. The operations within an organization will be done by keeping in mind the supply that will get from the suppliers. On the other hand, the operation is mainly directed towards satisfying the customers and get revenue from the market. The profit model will be helpful only if they are able to handle the suppliers well a keep the customers satisfied, with their products and services. Even though the profit mode l is more visible, the more important is the business system. The firm has to decide the way it will divide the duties to the employees and deal with the trading partners. It has to decide the way the in-house working system will be processed and the way the activities of the trading partners will be taken care of. Thus, it is not about one operation or work, it about cluster of operations that take place in the business system as explained by Itashi and Nimino. Every organization has their unique way of dealing with the business. One such example is of Google. Google has planned the profit model in such a manner that it does not charge any money from the customers. On the contrary, it gives an opportunity to the advertisers who can freely post their advertisements with the help of Google. To give rise to such a unique profit model it has developed certain unmatched business system. It has developed software services that helps them to give the customers the free services. With the help of the busienss system, it has been able to cut the of the search engine services. The idea of business model Itashi and Nimino can be said to be the best in explaining the business model as it explains all the aspects that will help in proper processing of the business. the beak up of the business model makes it easier for the readers to understand the elements that will help in proper functioning of the business (Bohnsack, Pinkse Kolk 2014). The collaboration of business system and profit model explains the fact if an organization is able to handle the internal operations well, it will be able to gain good amount of profit from the market (DaSilva Trkman, 2014). Even though, business is all about the external aspects, the model explains that the internal management will help an organization to yield better result from the external market. It is true that the profit model is more visible, yet the business system helps in enhancing the profit model of an organization. After going through the idea if business model and business system it can be said it is is up to the organization to plan the activities so that they are able to deliver well in the external market. The way itashi and nimino presented the business model is commendable. They have divided the business model into various parts so that it will be easier for the readers to understand the model. They have focused on the profit model and the business system. It has been concluded that even if the profit model shows the performance of the organization, the business system is the main player. Once the internal operations will be taken care properly it will yield better result in the market. The example of Google makes things clear. The profit model of Google is to give free search services to the customers. However, they plan the business in such a manner so that they are able to develop the software and invite the advertisers who will pay their search to be visible in the top once the users search for any particular thing. The Dairy Of Lady Murasaki Essays - The Tale Of Genji, Fujiwara Clan

The Dairy of Lady Murasaki Early in history, the male gender has been the dominant force. The male aristocracies has been responsible for producing the writing, arts, and architecture, "which is traditionally consider to be humanity's historical legacy." However, the "silence voice" will not remain silent, because historians have sought them out. Due to the fact, historians have sought the "silence voice" we have been able to learn more about women history. One way they made it possible for us to learn about it is by writing books such as The Dairy of Lady Murasaki. The Dairy of Lady Murasaki is a paramount historical document that marks one of the major turning points in women's history. The book has great insights into the 11th century of women experiences at the court of the Japanese emperor. This is significant because during the height of the Heian Period (794-1192), which Lady Murasaki lived, Japanese had no writing system of their own. Also, it was considered improper for a woman to know how to write Chinese, the writing system Japanese used then. Men were not happy. They wanted to "keep the language of bureaucracy in male's hands." This however, did not stop the women of Japan from striving for success. Women went on and developed the written Japanese language. This was the first attempt woman made in Japanese history, and in their quest to become the "sound voices" instead of the "silence voice." One can compare these women to the famous black man Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass had to struggle to learn to read because his slave master did not want him to. Nevertheless, we saw that the more they tried to prevent him from learning, the more he strove for success, just as these women. The Japanese Women did not stop after the development of the written Japanese language. They went on to write poems, prose, and dairies, thus proving to the males that they are capable of writing; also that no one could hold them back from reaching success. Lady Murasaki was one of these women that strove for success. She was the Empress companion and tutor. She had knowledge and court values that she inherited from her father. Due to this she was able to handle her position very well. Though she held her position well, as a consequence of her gender her experience of the court life was different from those of males. She couldn't discuss what she knew about what was going on in the court because of fear of being known as a gossip. We see this when she states, "now if I go and describing for you in this manner, I am sure I will get the reputation for being a gossip, especially if it concerns those close to me. It is so difficult to discuss people I meet every day and I should avoid commenting on anyone about whom I have second thoughts." One can say she feels this way because women were mainly known for gossiping and nothing else in those days. She wanted to know for more then just that. That's why even though Lady Murasaki knew what alm ost everything that was taking place in the court, she kept it between her and her dairy. As one sees, religion is not something that Lady Murasaki paid much attention to. She did not see Shinto and Buddhism as "being traditions in any way commensurate." Her reason for that was Buddhism entered the Japanese court system the merging Indian and Chinese religion was considered unoriginal. There are however many types of Buddhism and ritual side we see in her dairy. "Murasaki herself must have been well aware that Buddhist rituals she saw at court and the path of salvation through the worship of Amida were a root connected." Amidism has "provided the major source of personal solace for these women." Shinto was not an actual system in any sense. It was rather the practice of certain rituals connected with fertility, avoidance of pollution, and pacification of the spirits of myriad gods. Therefore, it was not linked to matters of private concerns. In essence, I accept that such a thing, as "fundamentally gendered experience of history" exists. After reading the diary,

Free Essays on Guadalcanal Campain

In August 1942 a powerful fleet comprising 48 combat ships, including the US Aircraft Carriers Wasp, Saratoga and Enterprise and the new battleship North Carolina, began to assemble for the invasion of the Solomon Islands. The Royal Australian Navy was represented by the cruisers Australia (Captain H. B. Farncomb); Canberra (Captain F. E. Getting and Hobart (Captain H. A. Showers). Commanding the Australian cruisers and five American cruisers was Rear-Admiral Victor Crutchley RN, who in June had succeeded the Australian born Rear-Admiral Crace RN, as the commander of the Australian Squadron. He was responsible for the safe arrival in the combat area of the troopships carrying the assault force of some 16000 US marines. Australian ground forces were at this time busy holding the Japs back on the Kokoda Trek in New Guinea. The invaders achieved complete surprise as they approached the shores of Guadalcanal over a smooth sea and under a clear sky. HMAS Australia and USS Quincy opened fire at 6.13 a.rn. and at 6.23 a.m. and shortly afterwards at dawn on 7 August, the first waves of US Marines landed at Guadalcanal and Tulagi, and soon secured the sites. The first wave of marines went ashore near Lunga Point without opposition and next day the marines occupied the airstrip. Opposition at Tulagi was strong but was soon crushed The Japanese reaction was immediate. Hastily organising a surface strike force of seven cruisers and a destroyer, they began to attack the Allied force without delay. It was a bold decision as it involved steaming in broad daylight down the length of 'The Slot' between the Solomons. Incredibly, the sole sighting of the approaching enemy force - by an RAAF Catalina - was not passed on to Allied leaders. The Americans had split their forces into three groups. Two were guarding the channels on either side of Savo Island. AUSTRALIA in company with CANBERRA, CHICAGO and two destroyers, patrolled the southern channel, while... Conflict in an organisation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Conflict in an organisation - Essay Example Hence it is an easygoing workplace which takes care of the employees in a free-flowing way (Pelled 1999). The work tasks are therefore dependent on one another yet being independent at the same time. This means that there are as such no dependencies within the working bases of the employees however they have to interact with one another so that team development could prevail at the end of the day. This also gives the employees a chance to know each other better and in a more resolute way. They also explain the issues that crop up at their respective ends and then go about solving the same through collective bodies. The dispute that took place was between two employees who never got along at the workplace. It was an issue that happened due to inflated egos of John and George. Both of them detested each other in entirety and did not appreciate the existence of the other one whilst being at work (Harper 1994). There was a form of negative chemistry that existed between the two and it ha d long-lasting repercussions as far as work domains within the organization were concerned. Both of them had a heated debate in a meeting and this led to a physical brawl between the two. This was indeed the beginning of much more that was waiting to happen within the workplace realms. The clues present in the wake of understanding whether or not this was a conflict situation come about when one tries to relate the different nuances which happened in the first place (Meyer 2004). This was a conflict that led to a physical attack on the part of John which put George in a very difficult position. George could have held back and let John face all the music as then the human resources department would have taken serious notice of the fight but this did not happen. George lost his cool and attacked John in return. Both men started to fight without any purpose. They just wanted to make their viewpoints clear – the other one should not be allowed to have his way no matter what
